Paul Romano : WorkHardened

the toothless cat is pleased to announce the forthcoming solo exhibition of artist paul romano this october 10 from 2pm-11pm. paul has worked in the music industry for over 10 years, creating the album artwork for popular bands such as mastodon & godflesh among others. we had the great fortune of being introduced to paul's work in person via a visit to his studio this summer, & were blown away. the exhibition promises to show a lot of the original work used for the album covers, but in this new context of our gallery, they gain a new meaning, transcending their original intent. the work itself is executed with classical precision from a master, at times steeped in myth & with a dark aesthetic. look out for a studio visit on fecal face soon! this show is not to be missed! x

Toothless Cat loves Monique Ligons

Monique's Gangster Gorilla painting (complete with rhinestone fronts & brass knuckles and with a handmade frame created with a barrel full of monkey toys) was the magnet that drew many folks into The Toothless Cat when we were still camped out ( & suffering from terrible music) near the stage at suite 54. I can't tell you how many times people posed for photos in front of it or asked how much she wanted for it. (there is some lucky BFF out there in Philly who this went to!) If you missed it, fear not, because we will be showing her and her animals in November along with Bird Reynolds & Joe Leonard. In the meantime, congrats Moe! on getting the upcoming cover of Australia's C.O.P. magazine, which show cases female talents from all over.
